Question Havieron and the Telfer

There is so much going on in the background (i hope) and this brings with it times of uncertainty. Thinking of only Havieron I have some questions and my considered answers, if I think I have one, as always just my thoughts in order to find out more by having others opinions. We have a joint venture...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

While today we did not get confirmation that we are going to be the 100% owners of Havieron, we did get more information from the half year results "On 22 February 2024, Newmont announced its intention to divest its interest in Havieron in calendar year 2024, as well as its 100% owned Telfer mi...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Chris_On_GGPChat: Thanks for the sight of that, my ramblings continue. I was correct that there was no real content over and above the headline, but it did fill some column inches. I agree with Hydrogen that this company will grow wings if, and there is 'an if', Shaun can pull it off, he pulled off,...

Re: Translating the coded language - in plain sight

The October post was a very good post and aligns with my thoughts that I first expressed last year in the Thread titled 'Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)' which I started in Sun May 21, 2023 and think as with this thread both have stood the test of time. Lets hope in our different way we have read...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

With this from the trav and Matty thread This culd well be a pointer o what is going to be announced next week, And TimberTrader has it - the first Newmont deal over the line - "Fury Gold Mines (TSX, NYSE: FURY) announced Monday that the company and affiliates of Newmont (NYSE: NEM, TSE: NGT) h...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Hydrogen As you say you did not think the events we are talking about would happen. I agree Shaun has had this in mind and he is much closer to the coal face than me, not sure about you. I only started looking at the possibilities with this tread last year when Newmont said they would devest none Ti...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

In my thoughts about the possibilities where we go in the current situation I have considered in previous posts 1. The real value of the Telfer package. 2. The economics of Newmont's proposed sale of their 5 mines excluding Telfer, where I consider the full $2 billion will be realised, leaving the T...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Francis: You may find these figures of interest Newmont purchased 2,015 Koz of production for$17billion Now in 5 mines they want to sell 1.250 Koz of production for $2 billion , they should not struggle to realise the full amount and more from the5 producing mines. I agree with Hydrogen that long te...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Just some thoughts again. I have dealt with the scenario where GGP purchase the Telfer package, which I think at this stage is a Zero cost option due to the risks involved with both Telfer (Cost of Clean up) , and Havieron (Unforeseen circumstances prevent the mine becoming fully operational). Opera...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

You could be right regarding the bond, but this may be part of the deal, if Wyloo, is not involved, but I would expect them to be in the mix. Since Newmont made the original statement last year about Tier 1 assets with NDA's a lot of interested parties could have been having discussions with Newmont...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Newmont purchased Newcrest for $17 billion and in FY 2022 and FY 2023 Newcrest produced around 2 million oz of gold. 6 months later Newmont now want to sell 5 mines which produce about 1.25 million oz of gold and they value these at $2 billion, this of course ignores the life of the mines. I have le...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

Newmont, the world’s top gold producer, will seek to sell six mines and two projects in a set of divestitures aimed at generating $US2 billion. IMHO, telfer mine is a liability, it has existed for about 50 years to date, the liability offset may be very similar to any value that a project <their ter...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

I have had to today review my words from almost a year ago, and I think most of my thoughts from last year still hold, I still think that Telfer is actually a substantial liability, and Havieron is still not past the important point where we are at the ore or an (official) decision has not been made...

Re: ASX Pension FUNDS coming Soon...

It is starting to look like we are on the rise. I did not realise through Halifax I had added so many (tongue in cheek), then I noticed the date JUNE, so not me, I did not buy in June but have added at these lovely prices. Thanks H for brining this to the board, it helps to provide backup for the st...

Re: 21st September LSE Town Hall with Greatland Gold’s Shaun Day

RedIrons, You are bang on, sensitive information has to be released to the market otherwise it can be insider trading and Shaun would not breach the rules. Having said that investors should meet the man, ask him the question you need asking, don't rely on others if you can get there, I would be ther...

Re: Newmont and Telfer (with Havieron)

We are another step down the road. We have a value for there bit of Telfer and Havieron if Newmont believe the figures they have put out today then $600mill buys them out. If they play funny and decide not to mine we are set prime to buy the lot. Personally I think they will decide to mine, but mira...
