Southerncomfort on NST bid - DeGrey v GGP

Post by Hydrogen »

our friend Southerncomfort posed an interesting question on LSE just now - why didn't Northern Star take out GGP / Telfer instead of Degrey would be cheaper...?

Well - the main reason is Shareholder approval mate - that's you and me! And the backing and underpinning of the reverse application of the Right of Last Refusal. NST required both the cash and the strategy to get past these hurdles:

Basically - Greatland Gold (as you are fully aware) has quite probably the most well informed and powerful shareholder lobby in the history of mining ....

AND remember the ROLR was designed by Newcrest to stop GGP selling their stake to the highest bidder - and certainly not to help GGP in any way -
how the tables turned hey...?

Above all - We ARE the reason.

We - You and me - are the reason Newcrest failed to kill us off at 2/3p following the 5% debacle and their JP Morgan Short and distort attack
We - You and me - are the reason that Shaun Day could raise enough to execute the Hav-Telfer buyback - that's why he engaged us so much. He needed us big time to be on board.
We - You and me - are the reason Northern Star backed off GGP / Telfer... and went after Degrey instead because getting SH approval meant it just wasn't going to happen.
Because of us - You and me - any GGP takeover price is just way too far out from the current price (ie like mid 30s) that Northern Star SH probably couldn't accept it either...

Thats why we - you and me - are in such an amazing situation. .

like I say you and me are part of the most organised and powerful public shareholder lobby in the history of mining ...

and IMO thats a formidable place to be. NST will have known that (and yet they would just been thinking WYLOO)

I guess this is why some of us get so much hate ... :D
In the end, Truth prevails...
