These evaporation ponds are needed for the lower aquifer where the water is hypersaline. It’s unusable for anything.
I worked out this should start around the 2,100m Decline length.
The Decline average rate prior to 11th August was 5.17m per day.
At 11th August the length was 1840m.
At 3rd September 23 days on @5.17 the length could be around 1959m
141m to get to the aquifer or 30th September.
As long as they don’t excavate another side stockpile drive.
This means the evaporation pond needs to be finished prior to that date

Draw your eye to the bottom right hand one.
2 of them are white ie salts after evaporation the other one is black ie full of water.
The one full of water is the 1st Dec
So the pond has filled and evaporated between the 1st and 16th Dec about 2 weeks.
They must be getting close to knowing the evaporation rates

Hi Bamps

That's interesting - will they work with CSIRO models for maximum efficiency do you think?

What models are you thinking of, I would expect these evaporation rates would be by someone on site. The DCCEEW dept would be more appropriate

CSIRO has developed a monitoring system that improves evaporation estimates through a combination of measurements and improved computer models. The system is designed to float upon the surface of open-cut mine lakes and take daily evaporation measurements, with its durability allowing it to remain on the water for long periods of time. Because it’s autonomous, it requires minimal labor once deployed.

Showing the large pond filling from the 2 right hand ponds over spilling but at a reduced rate than previously witnessed.
Still suggests to me the pressure has dropped.

This is the latest one 4th February, the big one on the left has changed on the right hand side with the salts starting to show through. The top right one looks as though it has more rain water in it but is changing colour with evaporation

This is an image from the satellite with the moisture filters on.
I can’t honestly say I understand the colouring system as it doesn’t relate to what is happening with the evaporation. I’m guessing but believe the pond liners maybe distorting the image colours

The red areas should indicate less water than the blue areas but it certainly looks like it’s the other way round maybe due to the liner.

Not much change from the fifth but the salts are starting to show through on the big one

Only a small change to the turkeys nest on the north side of the waste dump.
Could indicate not a lot of water coming out as the turkeys nest is the entry point before discharging into the ponds

Bamps, they’ve had heavy rain on and off for the last 10 days. I received a video from Telfer Monday and there’s surface water everywhere. I informed a lady that Newmont are getting rid and word’s getting round now. Funnily enough they know about Havieron but not heard of Greatland, at least that’s the case with the people I talk to.

The satellite images show that pond completed by 18th August by the look of things. Definitely filling by September
