The second image is the drilling campaign on Meadows this could be where several 5m oz deposits are being targeted.
Before Newmont came Wildcat drilling was carried out . By this I mean drilling a series of holes in lines to find the extent and centres of a target.
After Newmont used a new deep sensor a targeted approach was used.

The third image indicates where Newmonts device found targets.

A future drilling campaign at Meadows could be extensive as its only about 300m deep, around 50 holes could be drilled with a couple of RC rigs in around a month or so at a reasonable cost

As announced on 22 June 2018, and continuing through July and August 2018, the Company embarked on a Reverse Circulation drilling programme across the Ernest Giles project. Drilling commenced at Empress, then progressed to Carnegie, Wishbone and finally Meadows. All drill holes were vertical. The drilling programme is now complete and all samples were periodically dispatched to the laboratory. Early results from drilling at the Empress, Carnegie and Wishbone targets have been received and are reported below. Results from the Meadows area are awaited and expected in the coming weeks.

At Empress two holes were completed to test a surface MMI anomaly (ERC032-033). Only one hole successfully reached basement intersecting syenite form 314m below surface. Highest result at Empress was 4m at 45ppb from surface in ERC032 which largely explains the elevated surface MMI gold response. However, the source of the elevated gold at surface remains unexplained.

At Carnegie one hole was completed to test a nickel target (ERC034). Basement was intersected at 373m and the hole total depth was 408m. ERC034 was the first drill hole by Greatland that has successfully intersected basement at Carnegie. A consistent nickel response was detected in basement (to 0.02%) from 380m to 408m (end of hole) in ERC034.

At Wishbone two maiden drill holes were completed to test structural targets. Holes were completed to depths of 498m (ERC035) and 408m (ERC036). The initial, deeper, hole failed to intersect basement despite being drilled to 498m (ERC035). The second hole (ECR036) intersected basement at 373m. Basement lithologies included syenite and ultramafic lithologies displaying structural deformation and magnetite alteration, and mineralisation in the form of disseminated sulphides is seen throughout. Results from basement rocks reported up to 38ppb gold, 0.44ppm silver and 0.15% copper. Structural alteration of bedrock with sulphide mineralisation and low level gold, silver and copper suggest the broader area is prospective.

The drill holes completed at the Empress, Carnegie and Wishbone areas represent very early stage exploration work over an area of approximately 500 square kilometres. Drill results received to date will be further reviewed in a regional context along with airborne and surface data sets.

Newmont has informed the Company that its current corporate priorities are largely focused in other districts. Consequently, it has informed Greatland that it will not be proceeding with the project at this time. Newmont's six month right of first refusal over the Ernest Giles Project has already lapsed in accordance with the agreement announced 16 May 2017.

Newmont's DSG survey has been successful in defining a new large gold anomaly, covering an area of approximately 5km by 1.5km and untested by previous drilling.

Greatland Gold continues to hold 100 per cent of the project and is well financed to proceed with its alternative plans to progress with an exploration programme using the results of the Deep Sensing Geochemistry ("DSG") survey conducted by Newmont.

Key highlights of the DSG results included:

· Large 5km long by 1.5km wide gold anomaly identified, oriented in an east-west direction, that sits approximately 1km to the north of Greatland's previous drilling;

· The large anomaly identified has not been drill tested and sits perpendicular to the regional geological strike suggesting a strong structural control on mineralisation;

· Several additional robust gold anomalies successfully identified, many of which have not been drill-tested; and

· DSG survey was also successful in identifying overall basement lithological trends and recognised a belt parallel alteration signature commonly associated with large scale mineralised systems.

"We believe these results further highlight the potential for the Ernest Giles gold project to be one of most significant gold districts to be identified globally within the last decade. These latest findings have significantly improved our understanding of the prospective geology of the Eastern block.

"The MMI sampling has identified several clusters of anomalies across multiple adjacent sample traverses, which is extremely encouraging given the traverses were spaced at 3.2 kilometre intervals. The work carried out further enhances the potential of the Ernest Giles project and confirms our previously stated view that the Ernest Giles project has the potential to host several multi-million ounce deposits."

Highlights:

· Multiple gold anomalies identified over 60 kilometres of strike at Ernest Giles East coincident with the prospective basement geology;

· Several clusters of MMI anomalies have been identified, with key clusters exhibiting a strike in excess of 9km long and up to 3km wide;

· Detailed analysis of the ground gravity results from this campaign, and the recently acquired detailed airborne magnetics, confirms the gold prospectivity highlighted by the latest MMI results.


The Eastern blocks of the Ernest Giles project ("Ernest Giles East") cover approximately 600 square kilometres, including a large 80km long north-south trending sequence of rocks which represent an extension of the gold prospective Ernest Giles greenstone sequences. There has been virtually no modern exploration conducted at Ernest Giles East prior to this most recent campaign reported today.

Callum Baxter, CEO, commented: "Due to challenging market conditions, Greatland has altered its strategy. We will now focus on our more advanced exploration assets, whilst significantly reducing our exposure to early stage mineral exploration. We are actively seeking new opportunities for near term production and are currently evaluating several projects in jurisdictions outside of Australia."


Ernest Giles Project, Western Australia

The Ernest Giles project is located in central Western Australia and includes gold mineralisation and nickel prospective rocks. The area is covered by desert sands and sediments, making it virtually unexplored.

Greatland has drilled several sites recently, with many targets deemed too deep and early stage to be pursued at present. As such only two core areas will be retained with the balance of the licence areas relinquished; the areas to be retained include the Meadows and Carnegie licences.

Greatland is planning drilling for the Meadows area and considering surface geophysics for the Carnegie target.

I echo those comments - Bamps you’re an absolute ‘mine’ of research info, thank you.
EG is such a literally huge opportunity. Maybe the cash flow from Havieron in a couple of years will really enable them to get into EG in a big way to dig deeper into EG and start to really define specific assets. The next few months/ year or two could be the gateway to much bigger things there, fingers crossed.

Having met Callum he is still very keen on Ernest Giles, he said then if he could he would like to blast Meadows with at least 50 holes and being fairly shallow wouldn’t cost the earth. I think he mentioned $300,000 but I’m not sure on that but somewhere like it.
Air core drilling is very cheap, you don’t get the best results from these and won’t penetrate hard rock so can stop short like at Scallywag where some of the drills stopped at 1.1m
Be good information to have though.
